Scope and Contents The collection consists of steel engravings of noted persons of the 18th and 19th centuries, including politicians, clergy, authors, abolitionists, military figures, and presidents. At least some of the source images are paintings by Alonzo Chappel, and some of the sources for his paintings were photographs (including daguerreotypes).
